A summary of Federal legislation from April to July 2018

In 2016, when Trump was first elected, there was a flurry of pro-life bills introduced into Congress with much hope that the cause for life would finally make significant legislative headway on the Federal level. So far in 2018, only two pro-life bills have been introduced into Congress. It is important to remember that Congress tends to slow down during the summer months. Of course, there are the upcoming confirmation hearings of Judge Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court that are occupying the time and attention of our elected officials.

 

Despite the lack of legislative action on the Federal level, the States have never been so busy passing pro-life legislation. Laws that, even if they do not take immediate effect, are challenging our Judicial branch to revisit applying pro-life protections to all Americans.
