Title X Funding - Executive Order

This Los Angeles Times article provides a good summary of the (what feels like) never ending legal challenges to the Trump Administrations attempt to ensure that Title X tax dollars are not misused by abortion providers (Planned Parenthood).

US Congress

A couple pieces of pro-life legislation of note were introduced recently in the House. So far, they have only been introduced and have not been referred to committee, yet.

H.R. 2742: Abortion Is Not Health Care Act of 2019
This would amend the Internal Revenue Code to provide that amounts paid for an abortion are not taken into account for purposes of the deduction for medical expenses.
Sponsor: Rep. Andy Biggs [R-AZ5]
Introduced: May 15, 2019
Cosponsors: 34 (34R)

H.R. 2817: Child Custody Protection Act of 2019
This would prohibit taking minors across State lines in circumvent laws requiring the involvement of parents in abortion decisions.
Sponsor: Rep. Ron Wright [R-TX6]
Introduced: May 16, 2019
Cosponsors: 10 (10R)

In addition to the above pro-life bills, there is one particular pro-abortion bill that has been introduced that is worth mentioning. The title of the bill below (and the sponsor) tells you everything you need to know. Abortion advocates have been attacking pregnancy centers on the state level for awhile, but this bill reminds us that we need to remain vigilant on the federal level as well.

H.R. 2646: Stop Deceptive Advertising for Women’s Healthcare Services Act
Sponsor: Rep. Carolyn Maloney [D-NY12]
Introduced: May 9, 2019
Cosponsors: 29 (29D)
