U.S. Congress

July 29, 2021:  The House Appropriations Labor, Health and Human Services, Education, and Related Agencies Subcommittee advanced the Department of Health and Human Services spending bill without the Hyde Amendment.

​

September 24, 2021:  By a vote of 218-211 the House passed the erroneously named, "Women's Health Protection Act", which would codify abortion on demand as elucidated in Roe v. Wade and Doe v. Bolton. The vote was mostly along party lines with one Democrat voting with Republicans.

​

The bill now moves to the Senate where it is not expected to pass due to a lack of votes to defeat a filibuster.

October 18, 2021:   Senate Democrats removed the Hyde Amendment from legislation to fund the Labor, Health and Human Services, and Education departments. Senate Appropriations Committee Chair Patrick Leahy (D-VT) unveiled the bill.
